Sticks and Stones

Sticks and stones may break my bones but words hurt like hell! Labels. We tend to become what people have said, not what God says. Albert Einstein was told he could never succeed. Idiot, loser, failure, addict, felon. “Gill the Pill” annoying, unpleasant. My mom: “You never follow through.” Jealous. Try to pull you down to make them feel better. Eleanor Roosevelt: “No one can make you feel small without your permission.” Not what people call you that matters, it’s what you answer to. Move forward. Don’t let their labels stick. Pam cooking spray.

Max Lucado “You Are Special” Wemmicks, gold stars, grey dots, Punchinello, Lucia.

What does God say? Psalm 139:14 “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Psalm 34:19 “Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” Isaiah 61:3 Beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning.

Joshua 2 Rahab the prostitute from Jericho. Great-grand mother of King David, lineage of Jesus. 1Sam 16 Samuel anoints David as king. 1Sam 17 Eliab and David Mat 13:53-58 Jesus back to Nazareth.

Don’t let your mistakes keep you from rising up to how God sees you. Your labels limit what God can do. “That is who I used to be. I’ve come up higher.” 1Chron 4:10 Jabez “pain and sorrow” God granted what he requested. Get rid of the wrong labels, don’t let your vision be controlled by others.

Is 54:17 no weapon shall prosper. You must step up. Jer 29:11 Nothing spoken over you can define you. Nothing from my past has to keep me from my God given destiny. No time for self pity. Enlarge your vision. God can take you places you never thought possible.

The bumblebee cannot fly. Nobody told the bumblebee. 2Cor 10:4 Stronghold in thinking. Relabel yourself and your future with what God says about you. Prov. 4:18  The path of the righteous grows brighter and brighter. Best days are ahead. Isaiah 40:31 Mount up with wings as eagles. Nike: Victory in Greek. Victorious life is my choice. Eph 3:20 “God can do exceeding abundantly above all that you can ask or think.”
